Women’s basketball lost their first game this season with a final score of 80-73 against the Arkansas State Red Wolves Wednesday night.

Sophomore forward Mikayla Kinnard scored a career high 24 points and finished out the game with a three-pointer at the buzzer.

Sophomore forward Ajulu Thatha brought 11 points, being the only other player to score in the double digits, and a team-high of eight rebounds.

The Cougars had 21 turnovers in the game, which the Red Wolves took advantage of, scoring 21 points off these runs.

The Cougars are now 1-1 for the season and will be playing their first home game against the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 9.
