Former SIUE graduate student Brittney Gibbs and now-senior Austin Woodard were recognized for their academic success when they received Google Cloud Academic All-District honors for track and field/cross country.

The recipients were selected by College Sports Information Directors of America, and, according to its website, the program “recognize[s] the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.”

Gibbs and Woodard are two of six honorees from the Ohio Valley Conference. Gibbs graduated in May with a Master of Science in Exercise and Sport Psychology and recently competed at the NCAA West Regional after being the OVC champion in Women’s Outdoor Triple Jump. She held an undergraduate GPA of 3.95 and a graduate GPA of 4.0. Woodard holds a 4.0 GPA in undergraduate biochemistry studies, and, according to the OVC’s website, his outdoor 10K time of 31 minutes, 32.40 seconds was the sixth-fastest time in the OVC this season.

The Google Cloud Academic All-America team for NCAA Division I will be announced Thursday, June 27.
