Returning to SIUE, Elza Ibroscheva will be the next associate provost. Her duties will include academic planning, accreditation and assessment.

Ibroscheva previously served as a faculty member, department chair and graduate program director for the Department of Mass Communications over her 13 years at SIUE. For the past two years, she served as an associate dean at the School of Communications at Webster University.

The search committee was co-chaired by Joel Hardman and Mary Weishaar.

Provost Denise Cobb said in an email she is confident in Ibroscheva’s ability to make a significant impact in her office and for the university.

“She is a true teacher-scholar. Her commitment to student-centered education and quality and her recognition of the importance of research and scholarship will be true assets to our team and the campus,” Cobb said.

Ibroscheva will fill the position beginning July 1.
