The SIUE Police blotter indicates Thursday was a busy day for the police. The department responded to a reported stalking outside the Morris University Center, which ultimately ended in an arrest being made.

According to the police blotter, 61-year-old Frank Massalone, of Alton, Illinois, was arrested for disorderly conduct in response to the call. SIUE Police Chief Kevin Schmoll said Massalone was trying to connect with a non-resident student.

Massalone was brought to the SIUE Police Department, where he was fingerprinted, photographed and processed. Massalone was able to post bond, granting his release. Schmoll said campus police issued a persona non grata against Massalone, meaning if Massalone were to set foot on campus, he could be arrested for trespassing.

Madison County Circuit Court records show Massalone is currently involved in an open case for an order of protection and set to appear in court in May. Schmoll said the case regards an incident outside of campus police’s jurisdiction. Additionally, Massalone was set to appear in court Friday under an illegal occupant charge and junk and trash ordinance violation. He also had court dates in the past for drug-related charges.

The blotter said SIUE Police made another arrest Thursday on a felony warrant. Kiante Brooks was arrested for Aggravated Battery, aggravated assault, criminal damage to property and failure to stop after an accident involving injury. He was fingerprinted, photographed and processed. Brooks was taken to Madison County Jail after being unable to post bond.

SIUE Police officers also responded to two reports of parking tags being stolen. The first report was of a hangtag being taken from a motorcycle in Lot 4. The second report is listed as burglary to a vehicle in Lot 12.

The Alestle will continue to update the story as more information becomes available.
