Tony's Time Out: MLB postseason a little "over-cooked"

There is one thing about Major League Baseball playoffs that everyone can be a fan of. October baseball is one of the most exciting and intense competitions that can be shown on television. There is only one October.
That seems like it's pretty obvious. Yes, there is only one October, and yes there is only a certain amount of times a person can say that, but TBS and FOX has made sure that actor/comedian Dane Cook can say it hundreds and hundreds of times.
He's said it so much that even Saturday Night Live, a program he once hosted, has began poking fun at him with a very similar parody. NBC's Saturday Night Live cast member, Jason Sudeikis, impersonates Cook by saying, "There's only one October, and there's only 300 of these promos."
Think about this. What actor represents baseball better then a Boston-raised comic three years past his prime? Cook, who looks awkward when he performs on stage, looks even more awkward as he tries to promote baseball.
People affiliated with sports and the fans of the games are not holding back about this commercial either. ESPN's Bill Simmons, who contributes a sports column to ESPN the magazine recently wrote that Cook probably couldn't even pick out Albert Pujols from a police lineup.
What is it about Cook that would make the MLB think this would sell baseball? In all honesty, when the commercials come on I get sick to my stomach. It usually ends with something being thrown, and almost a slight case of vomiting. I'm not joking, these commercials make me sick.
If Cook is what the public wants to see, they can buy tickets to his show coming up if they want to pay the price. Three years ago someone could go and see Cook live for under $30. Good luck my friend, tickets are running anywhere from $40 to more than $100.
But really, Dane Cook to promote MLB playoffs? It would probably make more sense to use the players. Really, I think it would make more sense to use past players that have made big impacts in the playoffs.
