Near the conclusion of the SIUE men's soccer game against Lewis University Sunday, a brawl broke out, forcing police to restrain the two teams.

The fight broke out after a player from SIUE and from Lewis each tried to go for a header on a ball that was kicked the length of the field.

The player from Lewis went down and the player from SIUE was shoved to the ground, sparking the fight.

Lewis Head Coach Evan Fiffles was ejected from the game after arguing a previous foul and was unavailable for comment immediately following the game.

SIUE Head Coach Ed Huneke also was unable to provide any more information regarding the fight.

According to the officials of the game, Tom Smith, Vern Gano, and Jeff Shelton, the official outcome will be decided by the Great Lakes Valley Conference.

SIUE led the game 2-1 with 3:50 left in the game at the time it was called off. The game is officially labeled as an "abandoned game" until the GLVC makes a decision about the outcome.
