What is your favorite moment as an athlete?
The end of any match when you can barely move, dripping with sweat and the score ends in your favor.
What is your favorite moment as a coach?
The first day of practice when all of the freshmen run around like a bunch of crazy people filled with energy and ready to prove themselves.
What is your favorite movie of all time?
"Kill Bill -Vol2."
What is your favorite sports movie?
"Miracle"
Why did you choose to coach at SIUE?
This is my alma mater! Plus, the timing was right. I came from junior college and then this opportunity became available.
What convinced you to go into coaching soccer as a career?
I was definitely led by powers greater than my own. Choosing to go into coaching is borderline insanity!
If you could have been in any other profession, what would it have been?
Teaching full-time in higher education somewhere near the beach.
Who is your favorite athlete/role model?
John Stockton
What motivates you on a daily basis?
My to-do list. I try to beat it every day but I rarely win.
What is your favorite inspirational quote?
"Accio Win!"

What is something most students wouldn't know about you?
I am from a small town in Alaska. Capital of the largest cabbage head in the world. Back home my favorite sport was basketball. I used to be a decent point guard.
What is the most fun part of your job? Torturing my athletes, of course!
Do you have any daily rituals or superstitions that prepare you for games or practices?
I usually just need to get rid of nervous energy by exercising, cleaning, or pounding on my piano.
What is the toughest part of your job?
Player management.
Have you had the chance to play or coach internationally, if so, where?
No, but I was coached by many international coaches growing up. Some were from Holland, Germany, England, Italy, Iran, to name a few.
Who would you say is the toughest opponent you've ever faced?
Well, in Alaska, there were two teams in our U10 recreation league: We were the green team, they were the yellow. Yellow was quite a formidable opponent.
What are your feelings towards SIUE's eventual move to Division I?
I am all for it. Bring it on!
Have you had any former players go pro or go into coaching?
So far there are a few that are coaching out there in the club scene. Kristine Armstrong and Padra Bencini. Also, Christina Stremlau is all over the soccer scene in St. Louis. She most recently worked for a women's semi-pro team in Edwardsville, River Cities FC.
What are your thoughts about David Beckham and what he could do for U.S.
soccer?
He is really hot. He will attract a lot more female fans.
Are there any particular opponents you look more forward to facing every
year, if so, who?
UW-Parkside. Our fans like to drive them crazy.
