Rush sentenced to 33 months
A former assistant program director for SIUE's Talent Search program was sentenced Friday for misusing grant funds for the program, including buying personal gift cards, groceries, alcohol and electronics.
Korey L. Rush, of Swansea, was sentenced to 33 months in prison for misapplication of federal grant funds and tampering with a witness.…

SIU professor finds possible cure for herpes
More than one in five individuals have contracted herpes, and almost 70 percent of the population contracts herpes in one form or another, according to Director of Health Services Riane Greenwalt. Those between the ages of 20 and 29 are twice as likely to become infected as they were two decades ago, but a scientist at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in Springfield said he believes he has found a cure for the virus.…

New committee and resource center coming soon
After much deliberation, Student Government approved Senator Joel Durham's bill to create a Resident and Commuter Life Senate Committee at the meeting on Friday. The senate also approved three program requests, two constitution reviews and elected a new Election commissioner.…
