SIUE names an ethanol director
The new National Corn-to-Ethanol Research Pilot Plant has a director.
Rodney Bothast will begin his duties as director of the facility Aug. 1.
The $20 million ethanol plant is in University Park and is the first ethanol research facility of its kind.

School of Nursing expands to Springfield
The SIUE School of Nursing is branching out.
A second facility has opened in Springfield and is the first outside the Edwardsville campus to offer a master's degree program and a program for registered nurses to earn a bachelor of science degree.
"We feel by bringing this facility to Springfield, nurses in Springfield will have better opportunities to further their education and that this will improve the health care in the Springfield area," Dean of Nursing Felissa Lashley said.…

Suzanne Jacobitti, 61, dies
SIUE Emerita Professor of Political Science Suzanne Jacobitti, 61, died Thursday, May 9, 2002, at Alton Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Jacobitti, an Alton native retired in 1997 after 27 years of service to SIUE. During her career, she was the dean of the old College of Social Sciences for four years.…

Cloudy water no need for concern
The water on campus may look a bit dark later this week, but there's nothing to worry about.
The SIUE water tank will be shut down for cleaning and inspection Wednesday evening and Thursday and Friday.
The shutdown will change water flow patterns, according to Facilities Management Director Bob Washburn, and may cause cloudiness in the water.…
