The Headphone Jack: 10 best Christmas songs of all time

Ladies and gentlemen, it is truly the most wonderful time of the year. ‘Tis the season to be holly, jolly and turnt. If you listen to our podcast, “Alestle After Hours,” then you know I love Christmas music. Christmas music brings a certain joy to my heart that cannot be described. I want to help everyone (even the haters and Grinches who hate Christmas music) get into the spirit of the holidays. Here is the best classic, nostalgic and lit Christmas music that is guaranteed to get you into the holiday spirit.

  1. "Last Christmas" - Ariana Grande

I have to start this off with my favorite Christmas song of all time. In 2013, Ariana Grande released her rendition of the original 80s  song by English pop duo Wham! Grande’s version gives a pop/trap vibe that will get you in the Christmas spirit and make you want to turn up at the same time. The chorus is the same as the original song but the verses are different, which gives the song a modern and fresh upgrade.

  1. "Sleigh Ride" - Tamar Braxton

This song is another rendition of a classic Christmas song. Tamar Braxton, the younger sister of R&B legend Toni Braxton, gives the 1963 Ronettes song an R&B vibe that is both hip and soulful.

  1. "This Christmas" - Christina Aguilera

I am biased because Christina Aguilera is one of my favorite artists, but she has one of the best versions of this song of all time. XTina’s powerful vocals and perfect runs combined with this classic melody make it the perfect song to decorate the Christmas tree or go see some Christmas lights.

  1. "All I Want For Christmas Is You" - Mariah Carey

Mariah Carey, “All I Want For Christmas Is You”, 16 million global copies sold. That’s it. That’s the tweet.

  1. "8 Days Of Christmas" - Destiny’s Child

This song is great not only because it is sung by one of the greatest girl groups of all time, Destiny’s Child (which includes the Queen herself, Beyonce Knowles-Carter) but it also exemplifies the great joy of receiving gifts. In this song, the ladies talk about the gifts that their boyfriends give them, which include a diamond belly ring, clothes, candlelight dinner, the keys to a CLK Mercedes and quality time. Who doesn’t want any of these things?

  1. "Jingle Bell Rock" - Bobby Helms

What is Christmas without “Jingle Bell Rock”? It has been played and performed many times, including in the classic movie, “Mean Girls”. It’s the perfect song to get anyone in the holiday spirit.

  1. "Feliz Navidad" - Jose Feliciano

Since 1981, this song has been a staple during Christmas time. It is always a good idea to listen to this timeless Christmas song.

  1. "Christmas In Hollis" - Run D.M.C

A good Christmas playlist needs to have this song. This song has been a classic since its 1987 release and has been featured in movies, TV shows and commercials. This is a song that you can rock out to while cooking Christmas dinner or opening presents.

  1. "Let It Snow" - Boyz II Men

I cannot write a piece about the best Christmas songs without mentioning my favorite classic Christmas song. This song has everything you need: a soulful 90’s R&B melody, the angelic voices of three men also known as Boys II Men and good Christmas vibes.

  1. "Christmas Time Is Here" - Vince Guaraldi Trio

If you truly want to feel nostalgic, you have to listen to this song that was featured in the classic movie, “A Charlie Brown Christmas.”If you’re like me, you grew up watching all things Charlie Brown, including the Christmas special. This song will definitely make your heart grow three times its size after listening to it.

Whether you love or hate Christmas, it is easy to find a Christmas song that is guaranteed to get you into the holiday spirit.
